Next month I’ll be doing something pretty special. I’ve been invited to present at the AHRI WA State Conference 2026 at Optus Stadium to hundreds of HR leaders from across Western Australia. It’s the big one on the HR calendar here.
I’m sharing the bill with brilliant strategists, governance experts and leaders shaping the future of work. The theme is “HR Leading Through Change: Focus. Foundation. Fusion.” And it’s exactly the conversation we need to be having.
So, what’s a workplace mediator doing on that stage?
Let’s be honest. In a program packed with sessions on AI-ready work, governance, and C-suite strategy, you might wonder where conflict resolution fits. The answer is: right at the heart of it. Every single one of those big-ticket items (culture, performance, resilience, even governance) rests on the quality of human relationships.
My session is, “Beyond Blame: Why workplace conflict is HR’s greatest (and most underused) leadership tool.” In five minutes, this presentation invites HR professionals to see conflict differently – not as a problem to suppress, but as an opportunity to grow people, leaders and culture.
What I want you to walk away with
1. Conflict is data, not dysfunction.
When people are in conflict, they are revealing unmet needs, unclear roles, misaligned expectations, and leadership gaps – all things HR is uniquely positioned to address.
2. Mediation builds capability, not just resolution.
Done well, mediation develops emotional maturity, accountability, communication skills, and self-leadership – outcomes no policy or investigation can deliver.
3. HR’s greatest impact happens in the uncomfortable moments.
HR adds the most value not by avoiding conflict, but by holding space for difficult conversations that create insight, repair relationships, and restore trust.

Come and find me
If you’re heading to the conference on May 14, please come and say hello. I’d love to meet you. Grab me during the breaks. I will be the one in the corner probably deep in conversation (old habits die hard). I’ll be there to listen, to learn from the incredible speakers around me, and to share how Taite helps turn the kind of workplace tension that keeps you awake at night into something that actually strengthens your teams.
Let’s not wait until a situation feels unsolvable. Let’s talk about what’s possible when we intervene at the right time and in the right way.
